Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety
Astute People are working exclusively with a leading Energy from Waste Operator to recruit an Health and Safety Manager for their new build plant in Walsall. This facility has capacity to process 436,000 tonnes of waste per year, generating nearly 50MW of power for the surrounding area.
As a Health & Safety Manager you will be responsible for all H&S activities on site ranging from inspections, audits, training, coordination, and reviewing / management of EHS documents. This role sits within part of a wider HSE team, and you may be expected to support elsewhere within the business.
Responsibilities and duties:- Managing the sites Health & Safety communications.
- Developing and managing the risk assessment / accident reporting system.
- Liaising with external bodies.
- Advising on environmental issues.
- Monitoring the performance of the plants health & safety program and identify opportunities to increase effectiveness.
- Carry out on site audits and investigations.
- Developing a strong H&S culture.
- Manage and update the sites H&S systems.
- Coordinate emergency response training.
- Providing H&S training for O&M staff.
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Ideally degree qualified in a technical / environmental background
- A NEBOSH certificate qualification is required as a minimum for this position.
The Health and Safety Manager role would suit someone with:
- Strong background in Health and Safety gained in a heavy process or engineering environment. This can include Power Generation, Refineries, Manufacturing, FMCG, Food, Petrochemical etc
- At least five years experience in a Health & Safety Management position
- An understanding of permits / compliance would be advantageous
