We are working closely alongside with local authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of a Youth Justice Officer on a 3-month contract highly likely to be extended at client’s discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 18.06 per hour

Summary

Walsall Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Youth Justice Officer to join their team. This role involves full case management responsibilities for young people across the Borough of Walsall. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessments, developing and implementing intervention plans, report writing for court and engaging in multi-agency panel work.

Responsibilities
  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of young people using approved tools specifically ASSET and the Prevention and Diversion Assessment Tool (PDAT).
  • Developing and implementing high-quality evidence-based intervention plans to reduce offending and promote positive outcomes for young people.
  • Representing the Youth Justice Service in Court work primarily at Wolverhampton Court.
  • Attending and contributing to Joint Decision-Making Panels and Referral Order Panels to ensure effective multi-agency decision-making.
  • Working across the Borough of Walsall to engage in activities with children and young people.
Essentials
  • A Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree in Social Work DipSW).
  • Qualification as a Probation Officer.
  • Qualification as a Youth Worker.
  • A relevant degree in a field such as Criminology Psychology or related Social Sciences.
  • Substantial and recent experience in Youth Justice.
  • Direct experience conducting specialist assessments (ASSET and PDAT preferred).
  • Experience in writing high-quality statutory court reports (Pre-Sentence and Referral Order Reports).

  • You should be available to work immediately or at short notice.
  • You should have right to work in U.K.
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS.
