Walsall Council is seeking a Social Worker for the Children in our Care Service. Following an "Outstanding" rating from OFSTED, we are committed to putting children and young people at the heart of our work and building on our success.
About the roleYou will be supported in developing your social work practice by senior practitioners and specialist social workers. In this role you will:
- Identify your specialisms and areas of interest and access training to develop expertise.
- Progress into roles such as Senior Practitioner, Consultant Social Worker or Lead Child Protection Practitioner.
We provide manageable workloads, high managerial support, essential paperwork only, enabling technologies, and training in Systemic Family Practice. Well‑being is central to our work, with specialised clinical supervision, a 9‑day fortnight for work/life balance, flexible working, and specialist employee assistance and therapeutic support.
Eligibility and requirementsThis post requires completion of an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check. Applicants with overseas experience may need to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Certificate (OCRC) or Statement of Good Conduct (SOGC).
The post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers – accurate spoken English is required.
