Social Worker - West Locality

Location:

Walsall Council

Hours- 37 per week

Duration-12 weeks

Pay Rate: £28.40 p/h Umbrella

Hybrid Arrangements:
In office Monday and Friday (Monday - Thursday 8:45 - 5:15, Friday - 8:45 - 4:45)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Social Worker to join the West Locality Team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of adults with care and support needs, helping them to maintain independence, achieve positive outcomes, and enhance their overall wellbeing.

Working within a supportive and collaborative environment, you will undertake strengths-based assessments, develop person-centred care plans, lead safeguarding enquiries, and work closely with individuals, families, carers, and partner agencies to deliver high-quality social work practice.

Key Responsibilities

Complete strengths-based assessments and care planning in accordance with the Care Act 2014.
Develop, implement, and review person-centred care and support plans that promote independence and positive outcomes.
Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring statutory duties and local performance targets are met.
Identify, assess, and manage risk effectively, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults.
Lead safeguarding enquiries and coordinate safeguarding plans and reviews where required.
Act as an advocate for adults, ensuring their views, wishes, and aspirations are at the centre of decision-making.
Work collaboratively with families, carers, communities, and multi-agency partners to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records in line with council standards and professional requirements.
Participate in regular supervision and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice.
Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to Newly Qualified Social Workers, students, and less experienced colleagues.
What We're Looking For

Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
Registered with Social Work England.
Experience working with adults within a statutory social care setting.
Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014, safeguarding legislation, and person-centred practice.
Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
Excellent assessment, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for adults and their carers.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975. As this role is eligible for an Enhanced DBS check, applicants are required to declare any cautions and convictions that are not protected under current filtering rules
