What You’ll Be Doing
  • SGH seeks a motivated and talented engineer to help grow our structural engineering practice with emphasis on repair and rehabilitation of existing structures, investigation and performance evaluation of existing and new structures, and design of new structures. Typical project work includes investigating deteriorated or underperforming structures, conducting structural evaluations for new and existing structures, preparing detailed calculations, developing drawings and specifications, executing construction administration, writing investigative reports, preparing client presentations, managing project budgets and schedules, assisting with mentoring and development of junior staff, and interacting with facility owners, public agencies, contractors, and architects.
  • Work on a wide range of structural engineering projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures. Projects may include conventional or archaic / antiquated structural systems.
  • Plan and conduct site investigations to document existing conditions and lead the development of investigation reports.
  • Prepare contract drawings and specifications for repair designs and the design of new structures.
  • Execute the construction administration phase of projects, including bid assistance, submittal review, site meetings, observations of completed work, etc.
  • Serve as a manager on projects that may include:
    • Condition assessments of existing buildings and other structures.
    • Investigation of structural failures and adverse performance issues.
    • Preparation of technical reports
    • Development of options analysis for clients to make informed decisions.
