Boston Dynamics is looking for a
** Staff Hardware Test Engineer
** to join our
** Central Hardware Team**. The Hardware Test Engineer will be working side-by-side with our design engineers to validate, qualify and help deliver cutting edge robotics designs.  Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in automation solutions for industrial applications and warehouse logistics.

** How you will make an impact:*
* * Develop test strategies for new technologies, hardware and firmware
* Develop Python code and code infrastructure
* Perform data analysis, root cause issues and suggest design improvements
* Design and build test fixtures from scratch
* Carry out DVT, reliability testing and compliance testing
* Be a vocal proponent for quality, both internally and as a representative of our company
* Create and modify scripts to iterate testing procedures

* What You Bring:

*
* * BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and 5+ years of relevant experience
* Experience with NI LabVIEW, python, and command-line operations in a UNIX-like OS
* Experience with test automation
* Experience with communication interfaces, e.g. CAN, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C
* Hands-on experience designing, building and debugging electro-mechanical test setups
* Experience with lab equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, programmable loads, thermal probes
* Experience with compliance testing including conducted/radiated emissions and safety
* Be able to multitask, and change priorities quickly as needed
* Experience with PCB rework and cable assembly
* Be able to clearly communicate test results and data  
** Nice to Have

Skills:

*
* * Familiarity with low-level embedded firmware [C/C++]  and FPGAs
* Familiarity with functional safety
* Familiarity with motor drives
* Familiarity with position encoder and force sensor technology
* Familiarity testing high-speed interfaces
* Experience working with robots and/or robotic systems
* Experience with DFMEA and HALT  This role requires up to 10% travel to off-site facilities.

* * The salary range for this position will be clearly stated in the job posting as required by Massachusetts law. The base pay range for this position is between $117,000 - $145,000. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting.
