Senior Software Engineer, RAG

We are a multi‑disciplinary and multicultural team focused on building CRM solutions used by some of the largest companies in the world. You will bring your AI and RAG experience to help support document understanding, workflow automation and enterprise search.

This role is based out of our Waltham, Massachusetts office.

By joining this team, you will help build a state‑of‑the‑art RAG solution that will power industry‑leading knowledge management and customer service solutions. This will be integrated into components such as chat, voice bots and customer service representative desktops.

• Improve and evolve the existing Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architecture to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Refine chunking strategies (size‑based, title‑based, semantic) to optimize document segmentation for better retrieval and generation.
• Fine‑tune LLMs and optimize prompts for domain‑specific tasks using the current system as a foundation.
• Implement grounding and citation techniques to ensure traceability of generated content.
• Partner with ML engineers, product managers, and domain experts to align technical improvements with business goals.
• Contribute to internal research initiatives and represent the team at conferences and industry events.

• Deep expertise in enhancing AI systems, with a focus on RAG pipelines and LLM integration.
• Experience with vector databases (e.g., pg Vector) and semantic search.
• Fluent in Python and ML frameworks, demonstrating software engineering excellence through clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Strong understanding of chunking strategies, embeddings, and hybrid search techniques.
• Familiarity with prompt engineering and LLM fine‑tuning (e.g., GPT, Claude).
• Strong architectural thinking and experience designing ML pipelines that operate at scale and integrate into cloud‑based platforms.
• Excellent collaboration skills with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to shape strategy and influence technical direction.
• Up‑to‑date with academic research and industry trends and capable of translating insights into practical implementations.
• Clear communication, influence across disciplines, and a hands‑on leadership style.

Base salary range: USD 106,200 – 158,900 annually. Eligible for annual bonus or commission and additional incentives. Final compensation will be determined during the offer process based on education, experience, skills, qualifications, and market conditions.
