Project Manager with Utility Experience

Job Purpose:

• Management and oversight of multiple projects from initiation to completion, delivering business change and benefits by leveraging resources across the IS function and influencing stakeholders.

Knowledge, Experience & Technical Know How:

• Extensive knowledge of business and IS strategy and project drivers.
• Proven leadership, relationship, communication, and presentation skills with a track record of delivering IT projects.
• Understanding of National Grid policies, management structures, and reporting procedures.
• Demonstrates Valued Business Partner capabilities in interactions with IS colleagues, vendors, and stakeholders.

Each role will work within areas such as Operations, Network Strategy, Customer and Digital Transformation, or US Corporate, IS, Shared Services.

Skills:

• Manage 2-8 projects with budgets ranging from USD 160k to USD 8m, adapting to business demand.

Main Interfaces:

• Strategy & Relationship Management, Planning and Performance Management, Service Delivery, Enterprise Architecture, Centres of Excellence, Security.
• Business Managers, Supplier Organisation Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee partner-led projects ensuring proper project management disciplines.
• Analyze vendor proposals and support negotiations.
• Develop sourcing strategy recommendations to ensure value for money.
• Manage projects within business functions, utilizing all resources and relationships.
• Lead teams following project governance and manage complexities through stakeholder influence.
• Handle dependencies, risks, plans, costs, and resources across projects.
• Implement changes to meet objectives and realize business benefits.
• Apply full methodology and techniques independently and guide others.
• Act as a Valued Business Partner role model and promote similar behaviors across IS.

Education:

• Degree-level education in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., PMI, Prince2) are desirable.
