Summary:
The Administrative and Communications Volunteer will be crucial in coordinating meetings, organizing documentation, and providing administrative support to the board, contributing to the foundational development of PLA International. The volunteer will support day‑to‑day organizational management and communications efforts, including website administration and tracking meeting to‑do’s. The ultimate goal is to strengthen the organization's operational capacity and prepare for future funded operations with part‑time and full‑time opportunities.
As the organization secures more funding, this role has a high likelihood to transition to a full‑time position.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings for the board, volunteers, and stakeholders, ensuring all participants are informed and prepared.
- Organize and manage organizational documentation and filing systems.
- Support the board in administering the organization's operations.
- Assist the Associate Director of Operations in day‑to‑day organizational management.
- Keep track of action items and to‑do’s from meetings.
- Administer and update the organization's website content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Support the development and implementation of communication strategies.
- Assist in creating, curating, and scheduling engaging content for various communication platforms (e.g., social media, email newsletters).
- Help develop and distribute regular email newsletters to keep stakeholders informed.
- Support joint communication efforts between PLA Uganda and PLA International.
- Monitor communication channels for comments, messages, and mentions.
- Assist in tracking and analyzing communication performance metrics.
- Contribute to maintaining consistent branding and messaging across all platforms.
This volunteer will report primarily to the Board Advisor in charge of Administrative Operations, and also to the Chairperson and Director of Operations.
Volunteer Logistics- Estimated hours required per week: 5‑10 hours

Desired Skills and Experience- Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Gemini) and the Google Workspace suite.
- Knowledge of how non‑profit organizations are run.
- Experience coordinating meetings and managing schedules.
- Ability to organize documentation and filing systems.
- Experience in website administration or content management.
- Ability to track and follow up on tasks.
