Job Title:

Scientist

Job Description

The Scientist will perform routine analytical testing to support analytical development programs focused on large molecule and biologic therapeutics. This role involves executing established analytical methods, accurately documenting and reporting data, and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to programs in areas such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), gain hands-on experience with capillary electrophoresis (CE), and further develop expertise in analytical development for biologics.

Responsibilities
  • Execute routine analytical testing using established methods, including UV/Vis-based assays (including SoloVPE), ELISA, UPLC/HPLC, and CE-SDS to support analytical development programs.

  • Perform analytical testing in support of large molecule and biologics development, ensuring high-quality, reliable data generation.

  • Accurately record, compile, and report analytical data in accordance with organizational standards and laboratory best practices.

  • Document all experimental work, procedures, observations, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks in a clear and organized manner.

  • Maintain, clean, and care for analytical instruments and equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

  • Identify, document, and report instrument or equipment issues that require troubleshooting or repair, and collaborate with relevant teams to resolve them.

  • Follow established laboratory protocols, analytical methods, and quality standards to ensure consistency and compliance.

  • Work collaboratively with analytical development and protein chemistry teams to support ongoing projects and method execution.

  • Apply knowledge of protein chemistry and protein analysis to interpret results and support method execution.

  • Support continuous improvement of laboratory practices by adhering to good documentation practices and maintaining a well-organized work area.

Essential Skills
  • 57 years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably in a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical or similar research environment.

  • Hands-on experience and strong working knowledge of ELISA techniques for protein and biologic analysis.

  • Hands-on experience and strong working knowledge of UPLC/HPLC systems for analytical testing.

  • Practical experience with CE-SDS and capillary electrophoresis methods for large molecule and biologic characterization.

  • Proficiency in using UV/Vis-based methods, including instruments such as SoloVPE, for quantitative analysis.

  • Experience with analytical development for large molecule and biologic therapeutics.

  • Bachelors degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a closely related scientific field with relevant laboratory experience.

  • Ability to accurately record, compile, and report analytical data following established standards.

  • Ability to maintain and clean analytical instruments and to recognize when equipment requires troubleshooting or repair.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality laboratory documentation using electronic laboratory notebooks.

  • Fundamental understanding of protein chemistry and protein analysis techniques.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Masters degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience working in a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical environment is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with Empower software for HPLC/UPLC data acquisition and analysis.

  • Experience with HPLC and UPLC method execution in an analytical development setting.

  • Experience in large molecule and biologics analytical development, including protein characterization.

  • Exposure to or understanding of capillary electrophoresis techniques beyond CE-SDS.

  • Knowledge of ATC (Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical) classifications or related pharmacological concepts is a plus.

  • Interest in or experience with therapeutic areas such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple analytical tasks within a part-time schedule.

  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional scientific teams.

Work Environment

This is a 100% onsite, part-time laboratory-based role, requiring approximately 2030 hours per week. The schedule is flexible, with the expectation to work two full days and either a half or full third day each week. There is openness to alternative arrangements such as two 10-hour days, depending on mutual agreement and operational needs. The Scientist will work in a modern…
