About the roleWe're recruiting a SEND teaching assistant for a one-to-one role supporting a Year 5 learner with autism and ADHD at a primary school in Walton on Thames. You'll work with one child in a mainstream classroom setting, supporting their learning, independence, and engagement across the school day.
As a one-to-one teaching assistant, you'll provide individualised support tailored to this young person's needs. You'll help them access learning, manage transitions, develop self-regulation strategies, and build their confidence in a busy classroom environment. This is complex, varied support that makes a real difference to how the child experiences school.
Your role includes:- One-to-one classroom support and learning assistance
- Supporting the child's access to whole class teaching
- Behaviour and self-regulation support
- Transition management and anxiety reduction
- Developing independence and coping strategies
- Supporting communication and social interaction
- Working closely with teachers and SEND coordinators
- Recording and reporting on the child's progress and wellbeing
- Adapting support based on the child's changing needs
You have genuine experience supporting young people with autism and ADHD - whether in schools, settings, or other environments. You bring patience, flexibility, and a real commitment to understanding how this child's mind works. You might be a teaching assistant, a support worker, an educator, or someone with lived experience of neurodiversity who cares deeply about helping young people thrive. You bring:
