Quality Control NDT Technician – 6 Month FTC (Weekend A Shift – Fri‑Sun)
Williams Racing, a world‑class Formula 1 team, is seeking an experienced NDT Technician to join our Quality Control department for a fixed‑term contract. The role will involve evaluating parts, using non‑destructive techniques to ensure conformance to specification, and performing metrology or analytical tasks as required.
Job DetailsWork Shift:
Weekend A (Friday to Sunday) – 33 hrs per week paid at basic pay plus an additional weekend shift premium.
- Verify that all parts passing through the department are examined to required quality standards.
- Conduct routine and complex NDT processes using a variety of methods on a variety of materials.
- Maintain training material and method sheets.
- Coordinate with the Inspection Team Leader to ensure parts are inspected and moved on within correct time periods.
- Calibrate and maintain NDT equipment as required.
- Communicate pertinent information to designers, manufacturers and other inspectors.
- Communicate process and product improvements.
- Adhere to industry‑standard safety and quality standards.
- Maintain adherence to priorities and appropriately escalating any challenges.
- Support race team activities and events as opportunities arise.
- Understand and live Williams Values & Behaviours, encouraging others to follow.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety obligations.
- Maintain high personal standards of behaviour and conduct, acting as a positive ambassador.
- Adhere to brand rules and maintain high department presentation standards.
- Work to quality standards, continuously improving department and personal performance.
- Understand and follow cost‑cap rules and requirements.
- Skilled use of NDT and dimensional metrology tools and methods.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently at a sustainable pace.
- Confidence to draw meaningful conclusions on part quality independently.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Effective communication with management, peers and stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- Experience with NDT on components manufactured from a variety of materials, including carbon‑fibre composites and metals.
- Minimum PCN Level 2 Aero or equivalent.
- Ultrasound Inspection (UT) experience, especially inspecting carbon fibre components.
- Experience with Eddy Current (ET), Magnetic Particle (MT) and Dye Penetrant (PT) inspections.
