Shop Volunteer; Stock Assistant

Overview

Your local British Red Cross shop offers a range of activities for volunteers. We are looking for Stock Assistant volunteers to help with sorting stock, preparing donated items for sale, providing customer service, and general shop support.

• Check the quality of donated items and prepare them for sale or recycling.
• Replenish stock on the shop floor.
• Iron, clean, label and help price items ready for sale.
• Assist with general shop activities.

A few hours during the week or weekend, as agreed with the shop manager. No minimum commitment or fixed hours; we just ask that you agree on the hours you can attend and inform us of any changes.

• No previous experience needed.
• Full training will be provided.
• No expectation to use a till or computer.

We celebrate diversity and welcome refugees, asylum seekers and anyone in the UK to volunteer. We promote an inclusive environment and have an expenses policy to ensure volunteers are not out of pocket for role‑related expenses.

We take an individual approach to ensuring safety. Volunteers may be asked to complete a simple risk assessment and discuss any adjustments needed. Some locations may not host 15–17 year olds; please contact us to find a suitable opportunity.
