- Help needed to read mail and grocery shop with an elderly blind woman

Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (MABVI) is seeking a volunteer to assist an elderly blind woman in Wareham MA. The participant would like a volunteer who can help her approximately two hours per week. Tasks include driving her to her mail box and read and reply to her mail. She would also like to go grocery shopping every now and then to supplament her meal delivery.

Participant is a smoker, so we ask volunteers are okay with this. Must be COVID vaccinated.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

• Reading mail
• Paying bills
• Internet use/technology
• Medical transportation
• Going grocery shopping
• Running errands in the community
• Recreational activities such as being a running/walking sighted guide
• Other clerical tasks

Time Commitment: Volunteers typically devote 1-2 hours a week or every other week. This opportunity is flexible based on your match's needs.

The Volunteer Onboarding Process Includes:

• Complete a MABVI Volunteer Form (a MABVI staff member will email you the link to the MABVI Volunteer Form directly. Please note that this form is different than the initial Volunteer Match inquiry!)
• Completing the online, modular MABVI Volunteer Training
• Schedule a time to chat via Zoom with a member of the MABVI Volunteer Team/Submit a CORI
• Meet the MABVI Volunteer Team via Zoom or phone call
• MABVI matches you with a MABVI participant!
