New Close Primary School

is looking for a motivated and caring Teaching Assistant to join its friendly team of staff and provide support to pupils, including those with additional needs, with effect from September 2026.

Working Hours

Part time (25 hours, Monday – Friday, 38 weeks per year, term-time only, no Teacher Training days).

Contract

Fixed term (until 31st August 2027).

We are at the heart of our local community and pride ourselves on getting to know each of our pupils, and their families/carers, so that we can provide them with the support they need and help them to develop as individuals. As a Teaching Assistant
, you must be able to work across all age ranges within our school and be prepared to work flexibly to support children of all abilities, including those requiring SEND support, liaising with teachers and SENDCO. The role will require you to work on a one-to-one basis with a child with an EHCP in place.

  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
  • Enjoys working with children and can develop good working relationships with them;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Is a strong team player, who can use their own initiative;
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people, including their social and emotional wellbeing;
  • Has experience of supporting children’s learning;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude.
