We are seeking engineers specializing in simulation to support the AMRAAM Program Office. The engineer will operate with a dedicated simulation environment located in the building. The core responsibility involves utilizing these tools to simulate various air-to-air scenarios. This simulation work is fundamental to strategic planning and risk reduction within the AMRAAM program. Engineers will conduct "what-if" type of analysis to thoroughly evaluate system performance and potential failure modes under diverse operational conditions.

The outcomes of these simulations inform the systems engineering framework. Successful candidates will translate complex systems data into actionable recommendations that drive down risk across the missile's lifecycle.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex (WR-ALC) at Robins Air Force Base is involved in the sustainment and maintenance of the AIM-120 AMRAAM (Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile) inventory, specifically focusing on certain component-level work.

Key activities include:
  • Rocket Motor Transfers
    :
The base has been involved in projects to transfer good rocket motors from older AIM-120A missiles to newer AIM-120B/C missiles, which have higher capabilities and can be updated with current software.
  • Avionics Maintenance
    :
The 402nd Electronics Maintenance Group at WR-ALC is a center of excellence for avionics repair, which includes working on electronic aspects of various systems, potentially including certain AMRAAM components, to provide combat-ready parts.
  • Logistics Management
    :
The base provides life cycle sustainment support and logistics management for various armament and electronic commodities, which includes the AMRAAM system.
  • Hosting International Reviews
    :
Warner Robins hosts the "AMRAAM International Users' Review," a forum for partner nations to discuss the missile program.

While the WR-ALC primarily performs programmed depot maintenance on specific aircraft like the F-15, C-5, C-130, and C-17, its role regarding the AMRAAM is more focused on logistics support, component repair/sustainment, and specific modernization programs, rather than full missile production or complete overhaul of the entire weapon system.
