Senior Engineer - Airworthiness & Integration (R-EGI AC/MC-130 Programs) Description
IS4S is seeking a highly experienced Airworthiness & Integration Lead to support and eventually lead airworthiness planning, certification analysis, and engineering integration activities for our AC-130J / MC-130J R-EGI programs. This position will serve as the primary airworthiness subject‑matter expert for the current AC/MC R‑EGI Feasibility Study and will directly support proposal development and technical leadership for a potential follow‑on R‑EGI aircraft modification and integration contract.
This role supports all R‑EGI efforts including the current study, subsequent platform integration activities, and long‑term sustainment and certification tasks for follow‑on contracts. The position requires close coordination with AFLCMC, AFSOC stakeholders, aircraft OEMs, and subcontract partner organizations.
Job Role s- Serve as IS4S Airworthiness lead for AC-130J and MC-130J related R‑EGI activities
- Develop or review airworthiness plans, certification basis, analysis artifacts, and compliance documents
- Lead or support airworthiness assessments for aircraft modification, integration, and installation activities
- Collaborate closely with Integration IPTs, System Architecture teams, and the Chief Engineer
- Provide airworthiness and certification inputs into MBSE products, system requirements, and ICDs
- Prepare and review program airworthiness deliverables for current and future R‑EGI phases
- Provide subject matter expertise in platform certification data, MIL‑HDBK‑516 compliance, and aircraft modification processes
- Support system safety, cybersecurity, and avionics integration activities as applicable
- Provide technical inputs and authorship in proposal volumes, technical approach sections, and basis‑of‑estimate artifacts for potential R‑EGI integration contracts
- Participate in, and where appropriate, lead technical portions of capture strategy conversations, customer engagements, and design discussions related to follow‑on modification
- Support risk assessments, design reviews, and IPTs associated with airworthiness, cybersecurity, and avionics modifications
- Provide technical mentoring and support to IS4S engineers, especially in airworthiness, certification, and fixed‑wing avionics integration
- 10+ years experience in avionics, airworthiness, systems engineering, or aircraft modification
- Demonstrated experience supporting AC-130, MC-130, or SOF aviation platforms
- Experience leading airworthiness planning, certification, MIL‑HDBK‑516 assessments, or compliance documentation
- Familiarity with DO-178 and DO-254
- Familiarity with AFLCMC processes, certification workflows, and documentation standards
- Experience reviewing or approving airworthiness packages for Major Aircraft Modifications
- Experience coordinating with AFLCMC engineering, OEM partners, and government engineering organizations
- Ability to support briefings, program reviews, and technical integration discussions
- Ability to work independently, provide clear technical direction, and collaborate with multi‑organization teams
- Must be able to obtain DoD clearance
- Experience on AC-130J avionics, defensive systems, or modification programs
- Developed and/or approved airworthiness artifacts for SOF, fixed‑wing, or rotary platforms
- Experience interfacing with certification authorities at AFLCMC, OEMs, or SOCOM
- Experience with cybersecurity, software, or avionics sustainment
- Experience in avionics engineering supervision or team leadership roles
- Experience supporting agile acquisition or modernization programs
- Masters degree engineering or technical management is a plus
- Experience with ADS‑B, RFCM, PIT, JTWS‑Air, or other modification programs is a plus
