Medical Laboratory Scientist Group Lead

Warner Robins, GA (Monday to Friday, hours vary between 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with rotational weekends)

Relocation assistance will be considered.

Perform test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring independent judgement and responsibility in specialties you are qualified in by education, training and experience. Assist Lab Supervisor and serve as a technical resource for the department.

Pay

$28.94+ per hour; eligible for shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift.

Salary offers based on skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market and organizational factors. Eligible for annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all duties of a Medical Technologist I and II.
  • Perform and report assigned analytical tests per SOP, ensuring quality control.
  • Support and comply with laboratory policies for specimen handling, data reporting, and record maintenance.
  • Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround time for results, including critical tests.
  • Perform, review, and document QC analysis; make quality control decisions.
  • Review validity checks and recommend action, considering specimen limits and timing.
  • Serve as a technical resource, investigating and resolving testing problems and responding to inquiries.
  • Assist Lab Supervisor with workflow monitoring, assignment review, training, problem resolution, and performance appraisals.
  • Maximize productive capacity by evaluating production systems and coordinating resolution of issues.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment safely and sanitarily.
  • Complete training and competency checklists; assist with annual competency testing.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety requirements.
  • Use PPE, engineering controls, and/or work‑practice controls as directed.
  • Participate in government or regulatory inspections if needed.
  • Perform supervisor functions when the Supervisor is absent, if qualified and delegated.
  • Other duties as assigned (non‑exhaustive list).
Qualifications
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience as a Medical Technologist in the designated discipline.
  • Foreign‑educated candidates must provide a credential evaluation from IERF; US‑educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript.
  • Preferred:
    Experience as a Medical Technologist at Quest.
Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Lifting and carrying: 1‑10 lbs frequently; 11‑25 lbs occasionally; 36‑50 lbs seldom; >50 lbs not allowed without assistance.
  • Ability to stand and work at bench for long periods.
  • Frequent walking and/or standing.
  • Use of a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments requiring manual dexterity.
Knowledge
  • Comprehensive theoretical and operational knowledge in the designated specialty.
  • Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
Skills
  • Proven leadership and problem‑solving skills.
  • Detail‑oriented, independent, prioritizing tasks for self and others.
  • Ability to schedule and manage resources to meet department goals.
  • Interpersonal skills for courteous interaction with supervisors, co‑workers, and clients.
  • Communication skills for telephone inquiries from clients.
  • Confidential handling of client information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems.
Education
  • Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (Required).
License/Certificate
  • ASCP Certification (Preferred).
