Requirements

Certified/Registered Medical Assistant‑1

Responsibilities
  • Provides immunizations to patients, takes vitals, rooms on patients, clinical/clerical duties.
  • Prepares patients for physicians’ visit, performs tests and files appropriate documents.
  • Receives and directs phone calls, obtains necessary patient information to file and update patient records, and ensures all forms and consents are completed by patients.
  • Performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians and nursing personnel.
  • Delivers quality customer service and maintains established quality control standards.
  • Check‑outs patients, assists with referral processing, and arranges laboratory services.
  • Prepares patients for examination, takes vitals, and records patients’ health history.
  • Sets up EKG machines and other ancillary tests, administers injections and medications, and performs routine specimen collection and tests.
  • Prepares equipment and examination rooms, and cleans instruments.
  • Assists physicians with medical treatments, procedures, and exams.
  • Manages inventory of medical supplies and equips exam rooms with appropriate supplies.
  • Manages messages, prior authorizations, and patient calls.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification is required (credentialing body examination AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT, or RMA). Medical Assistant level‑1 applicants with >5 years of demonstrated medical assistant experience will be considered without certification (though career ladder opportunity may be limited).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via AHA.
  • Completion of all required competency assessments/skill checklists within 90 days of hire/transfer into MA job.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and external parties in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care procedures.
  • Strong grasp of medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Exhibit compassion and professionalism, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction.
  • Proficient in English (verbal and written).
  • Computer literate with entry‑level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word).
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, coordinate, and facilitate tasks, working independently or with a team.
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance.
Key Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery.
  • Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing.
  • Logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations to support business needs as required.
