• Reviews back-order status reports on a daily basis and takes appropriate action to elevate backorders no meeting customer requirements.
• Investigates, coordinates and releases Sales Orders that inhibit flow through automated systems and takes the appropriate course of action.
• Thoroughly reviews and analyzes data from both production and supply systems, ensuring overall supply effectiveness and compatibility of asset requisitions with end item requirements.
• Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies a wide range of supply support policies, procedures, regulations, and operating instructions.
• Applies DLA expedite policy and other standard operating procedures to request expedite actions within supply chains and/or emergency issuance from controlled stock.
• Recommends use of alternative sources of supply when faced with long lead times and identifies potential sources of supply for emergency requirements for which there is an order.

To qualify for a Inventory Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:

• Specialized
  
  Experience:
  
  One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector.
  
  Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
• Experience in retail supply and inventory management functions, material coordination, awaiting parts (AWP/MICAP) procedures, supporting repair programs and local purchase/local manufacturer processes.
• Experience in performing tailored customer support functions relating to consumable and/or exchangeable parts required for depot maintenance and repair activities.
• Experience in Order Fulfillment (including distribution system and ordering applications).
• Education Substitution:
  Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must be from a college or university accredited by an organization approved by the U.S. Department of Education. To qualify based on education in lieu of specialized experience, you must possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LLB.
