General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors open and close the Store, supervise Associates, and maintain a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and keep a clean work area at all times, while executing and supervising company operational processes as needed.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Prioritizes safety and practices safe behaviors in everything they do
- Maintains high awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions immediately
- Secures building entrance/exit, electronic surveillance devices, cash office, armored carrier pickups, and register area
- Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits
- Ensures customer safety, accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures
- Tests fire alarm systems as scheduled and responds to after‑hours alarms when requested
- Treats all customers, associates, and leaders with respect
- Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times and recognizes associates through company recognition programs
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times
- Maintains a professional appearance in accordance with the company dress code and ensures all associates adhere to it
- Keeps all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard and removes daily trash
- Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns comply with company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and follow‑up
- Receives merchandise trucks when needed and processes all merchandise with a sense of urgency
- Handles non‑merchandise inbound deliveries and keeps stockrooms clean and organized
- Assists in merchandise placement on the sales floor and secures back‑stock per policy
- Reduces loss due to damage and ensures compliance with monthly presentation guidelines
- Executes floor moves, promotional signing, and re‑wraps as needed
- Understands and complies with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintains a strong customer‑service presence, engagement, and heightened awareness
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty, safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise
- Maintains the public view monitor system and conducts “Code 50” package inspections
- Executes company best practices to maximize productivity while minimizing steps and touches
- Ensures associates execute front‑end procedures to company standards
- Maintains pace, energy, and presence at the front end, managing the line to expedite customer wait time
- Trains and coaches associates on cash registers, shortage control, and other front‑end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards
