Staffed with over 1,200 personnel experienced in electrical and computer engineering, computer science, and information technology, the mission of the 402nd is to serve as a premier software provider for the Department of Defense (DoD) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The 402nd performs software changes on real-time software systems located in various platforms, including aircraft, drones, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ships, and hundreds of related systems.
We maintain sites used to remotely control drones and UAVs, build and deploy equipment used to test and diagnose hardware failures in systems, write diagnostic software used on equipment, and deliver enterprise systems and applications that facilitate inventory management and air crew data logging.
Finally, we provide engineering services such as system acquisition, software acquisition, and lifecycle support.
Centrally located just 15 miles south of Macon, Georgia’s fourth-largest city, Robins AFB is within just a few hours’ drive of Atlanta, Athens, Augusta, Columbus, and Savannah, as well as the Atlantic coast and the Golden Isles.
The base is adjacent to the city of Warner Robins, with a population of approximately 77,000. This diverse and family-oriented area features:
- A variety of outdoor recreation, including hunting, boating, and fishing on Houston Lake, kayaking and canoeing on the Ocmulgee River, and exploring the more than seven miles of trails at Amerson River Park.
- The Houston County public school system, ranked in the Top 18% of Georgia’s school districts.
- Explosive economic growth, with the total economic impact of Robins AFB on the State estimated at $3.38 billion.
