Job Title:
Pre-Production Quality Engineer
Rate: $30 to $35/hr on W2
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Duration: 12+ months with possible extension
Overtime/Remote:
Not anticipated / No remote option
- The Quality Engineer is responsible for researching and testing the design, functionality, and maintenance of products, equipment, systems, and processes while developing and implementing quality standards. This role focuses on pre-production operations, supporting prototype vehicle builds by identifying and resolving quality issues and ensuring alignment with engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical assistance to pre-production technicians.
- Act as a liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and supplier quality during prototype build phases.
- Lead easel board meetings and guide teams through issue resolution processes.
- Establish courses of action to accomplish project or task completion.
- Coordinate input from internal/external stakeholders to better understand needs and perceptions.
- Interact with suppliers, lead containment efforts for supplier quality issues, and submit cost recovery documentation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, CMM, FARO, scan reports, and related engineering data.
- Stay current on product developments and quality engineering trends.
- Drive continuous improvement in current practices and processes.
- Participate in professional development opportunities (e.g., Red X, DFSS certifications).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (or 10+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to present effectively to large groups and multiple levels of management.
- Proven technical and professional competence.
- Team-oriented, detail-focused, and highly organized.
- Experience with statistical problem-solving methods (Red X experience is a plus).
- Experience in supplier quality, containment, and corrective action processes.
- Familiarity with prototype and/or pre-production environments.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Fit-for-work physical is required.
- No driving requirements.
- Possibility of contract extension based on performance and business needs.
- Exposure to unique pre-production projects and hands-on involvement with new technologies and processes.
