Overview
STS Technical Services is hiring Mechanical Technicians in Warren, Michigan to support advanced testing and development operations involving high voltage battery assemblies and related components. This role is hands on, technical, and safety critical, ideal for mechanically inclined professionals who thrive in a lab and test environment.
You will support test setup, fabrication, teardown, and analysis activities while working closely with engineering teams to ensure accuracy, safety, and on-time delivery of results.
Position SummaryThe Mechanical Technician supports battery assembly testing and related laboratory operations. This role focuses on safe test setup, mechanical fabrication, data documentation, and physical handling of large and heavy high voltage components.
Job Responsibilities- Champion safe test setup for battery assemblies and related components to ensure quality results and on-time delivery
- Define, perform, and follow test procedures and safety checks
- Develop and fabricate special purpose instrumentation, cable and wiring assemblies, laboratory test equipment, and fixtures
- Support testing of battery assemblies, modules, cells, and related components
- Perform physical work involving large and heavy high voltage batteries including movement, shipping, and disposal
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including test data collected or analyzed
- Maintain awareness of Business Plan Deployment goals and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Develop, implement, and sustain workplace organization and lab best practices
- Communicate findings and observations to engineering personnel verbally and in writing
- Recommend revisions to product or component designs based on test results and analysis
- Conduct or assist with safety and abuse testing as required
- Perform detailed teardown and analysis of battery cells, modules, and packs
- Conduct or assist with vibration testing, including working above 6 feet and using cranes and rigging to move high voltage equipment
- Successfully complete all required safety and technical training, including respirator use, cranes and hoists, lockout procedures, and related certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience
- Ability to work safely around high voltage systems and heavy components
- Comfortable performing physical work including lifting, rigging, and working at heights
- Ability to follow written procedures and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Willingness to complete all required safety and compliance training
