SUMMARY:

The role is a blend of technical, server and network support, requiring the ability to troubleshoot end-user, server and network issues. This position will be responsible for setting up and maintaining servers, workstations and the network. Additional duties include monitoring for and troubleshooting potential issues with the environment and system patching. The IT Specialist will oversee and participate in all operational activities, including network system administration, capacity planning, network performance, data and network security as well as backup and restores.

This position requires strong communication and technical skills, as well as the ability to be adaptable and troubleshoot problems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for creating new user accounts for new employees and removing the accounts of ex-employees. Assist non-IT employees with any technical issues and data transfers.
• Oversee all network activity, systems administration, backup, restoration and capacity planning:
  Ubiquiti
• Support, troubleshoot and image workstations
• Develop and implement Server maintenance standard operating procedures
• Provide data and network security
• Keep upper management informed with regular reports

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelors degree in Degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or MIS
• Minimum 4 years’ experience encompassing: LAN, WAN and Telecom
• Experience with capacity planning and performance monitoring techniques/tools
• U.S. Citizen allowing for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance.

• Experience in the following solutions:
  Fog (imaging), Proxmox (Virtualization), Intune, Ceeph.io (storage), Ubiquiti Unifi, Jira, Confluence, FlexLM, Magic Draw, Bitbucket, Mac Radius, Sonar, Jenkins, Zabbix (network monitoring), Wazuh, Rocket Chat, OSticket, Gitlab, Endpoint Protector, Threatmod (cybersecurity monitoring)
• Ability to solve complicated problems and deal with a variety of variable situations.
• Knowledge of network diagramming software. (Microsoft Visio preferred)
• Ability to create scripts (VBScript, Power Shell, Perl, PHP and/or Python)
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, LAN and WAN to troubleshoot & address server issues.
• Knowledgeable on firewalls, proxy & databases to keep the network & user information secure.
• Must be a technical resource & participate for system/network projects & knowledge of back up.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills including ability to interact effectively with customers, vendors and team members.

PREFERRED:

• 6 years of IT experience
• Experience in designing, planning, and installing network and server hardware
• Knowledge of how to maintain security on all workstations, servers, switches, firewalls, & other related devices
• Knowledge of how to maintain full system and procedure documentation
