Overview
PCSI is seeking a Plumber for its Detroit Arsenal site. The role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems that support water supply, drainage, and sewage throughout the facility. The ideal candidate will bring experience and reliability, ensuring that all work complies with plumbing codes and safety regulations. This position will report to the Mechanical Supervisor.
Shift: 7:30 am – 4:00 pm Monday – Friday (subject to adjustment based on operational needs)
Rate of pay: $48.78 per hour (union position) with annual increases plus Health & Welfare

What You ll Do as the Plumber- Provide routine maintenance and repairs to piping, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures (toilets, sinks, water heaters). Studies building plans for determining work aids and the sequence of installations.
- Install and modify plumbing systems according to project specifications by assembling and adjusting various pipe configurations to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose plumbing issues and determine corrective actions by leveraging experience, investigation methods, and interpreting technical drawings.
- Perform annual inspections of backflow prevention devices and support Garrison’s cross-connection control program.
- Generate accurate material requisitions through research and plumbing aptitude.
- Follow safety protocols and use PPE pertaining to your position.
- Constructively collaborate with maintenance staff, government personnel, and contractors on projects & repairs.
- On-call for after-hours emergency calls.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- State of Michigan licensed 4-year apprenticeship plus 4 years’ experience in the plumbing trade.
- State of Michigan, Class A, Certified Water Distribution Operator license required or able to attain.
- State of Michigan Cross-Connection Protection Certification, EPA-certified, required or able to attain.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances required for installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures.
- Ability to follow maintenance instructions, service, diagnose systems, and complete repairs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations.
- Able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
- Work assignments include both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Physical demands include climbing, lifting, bending, and working with tools & equipment.
- Successfully pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background check, and motor vehicle report.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance, including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation.
- Maintain a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and remain insurable to operate Company vehicles.
