Works under the supervision of the Director and/or Physical Facilities Manager, responsible for installation of new and repair of existing devices such as conduit, disconnects, switches, lighting, motors, transformers, circuit breakers, switch gear, and any other electrically operated apparatus within the hospital campus.

This position is located at Oakland Warren Hospital
- Warren, MI.

• Inspects and maintains electrical equipment in good working order.
• Notifies the Stock Handler to keep an adequate inventory of electrical repair parts such as lamps, fuses, switches, wire, etc. on hand.
• Tests and repairs electrical circuits.
• Performs preventive maintenance on hospital equipment and all electrical panels.
• Installs new wiring and electrical equipment to existing building and regulatory codes.
• May assist in-house staff or outside contractors during renovation or construction repair work.
• May design electrical circuitry as necessary to complete a job.
• May be assigned to oversee in-house renovation, construction, or Maintenance projects.
• Performs other duties as designated by Facility Services Management.
• Demonstrates in all duties and responsibilities a warm, humanistic attitude toward patients, their families, visitors, and employees of the hospital.
• Participate in a collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues.
• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.

License/Certification: Journeyman Electrician's card from an approved and recognized apprenticeship program.

Experience: Two to three years experience as an Electrician in commercial or institutional setting.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:

• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and electrical code is required.
• Must be able to interpret and understand mechanical, electrical and architectural blueprints.
• Must display flexibility in unusual or emergency circumstances.
• Color discrimination is needed to recognize colors when connecting wires.
• Must be able to perform tasks with little or no supervision.
• Numerical ability is needed to make calculations concerning the installation and repair of equipment.
• Good initiative and judgment is required in planning installations or making repairs on malfunctioning equipment.
• Requires climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
• May be required to lift tools, materials or equipment weighing up to 70 lbs.
