Material Expediter, Warren MI

PCSI is looking for a Material Expediter at its Detroit Arsenal Site. We seek a motivated, friendly team member to engage vendors and execute purchases to support our in‑house facility maintenance team. The right person will be detail‑oriented, organized, and able to multitask. This position will report to the Supply Manager at Detroit Arsenal in Warren, MI.

Shift and Pay
  • Shift: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM Monday – Friday
  • Rate: $32.07 per hour, plus $5.95 for health and welfare (union position) with annual increases

What You’ll Do As a Material Expediter
  • Utilize documents and spreadsheets to determine materials requirements or priorities, such as:
    • Purchase requests
    • Vendor quotes
    • Purchase Order Log
    • Site Scheduling Matrix
    • Invoices Tracking and Payment
    • Work Orders
    • Inventory Reports
  • Work with vendors to prepare cost estimates through email, phone calls, and online research
  • Order material, inventory stock, equipment, tools, schedule/track rentals, and other general items; also fill orders or issue supplies from stock
  • Inspect received materials for accuracy and condition assessment
  • Administrative and organizational responsibilities, including:
    • Sortly (property management software)
    • Materials Inventory (FIFO)
    • Property Inventory (Tools & Equipment)
    • Product or Material information
    • Reports on usage history, inventory transactions, spoilage, or damage to stock
  • Records:
    • Purchasing packets
    • Inventory transactions
    • Hazmat label requests
  • Perform inventory cycle counts and report findings to Supply Manager
  • Answer incoming calls, schedule pickups, deliveries, or distribution of supplies, and provide status information to expedite the flow of materials and meet production schedules
  • Locate and distribute materials to specified production areas and technicians manually or using a handcart, hand truck, or forklift
  • Follow procedures for maintaining high standards of quality and reliability of the company inventory system
  • Operate a vehicle onsite and offsite to pick up materials and deliver to various locations
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in supply and logistics preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, emphasizing Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and Excel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Above‑average written and oral communication skills.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Must work outside in inclement weather as needed and be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
  • Must obtain and maintain a security clearance, including a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) investigation.
