Job Summary (CMA)The Certified Medical Assistant is a key component of our team that works closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care to our community, ensuring services are provided within the Medical Assisting scope and state guidelines. The CMA is responsible for reviewing and updating health records, measuring vital signs, and preparing treatment rooms for upcoming examinations.
Essential Functions (CMA)- Provides excellent customer service by greeting patients and the community in a respectful manner
- Prep and review patient charts for upcoming visits by verifying diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date
- Measures vital signs such as pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight and height
- Performs departmental-related clerical duties such as checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones as needed
- Must possess the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
- Other duties as assigned
- High School Degree or GED
Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required):
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA);
American Association of Medical Assistants - Registered Medical Assistant (RMA);
American Medical Technologists - Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA);
National Health career Association (NHA) - Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA);
National Association for Health Professionals - National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) or similar national certs
- If incumbent is unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (A
-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for certain locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at others)
Experience (CMA)- One year of medical assistant healthcare experience (preferred, not required)
- Two years of clerical experience in a physician’s office (preferred, not required)
- Problem-solving skills, basic computer skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the delivery of patient care under the direction of the Physician. The LPN functions as an integral part of the healthcare team to provide the highest quality of care to the patient by preparing and assessing patients for provider visits. The LPN will observe, record, and report patient responses to medical care provided during appointments.
EssentialJob Functions (LPN)
- Analyze assessment data, evaluate patient condition, and collaborate with the provider to develop and maintain the patient’s plan of care
- Provide education to patients, families, and staff in conjunction with other healthcare entities, under the direction of the provider or manager
- Coordinate care with other healthcare entities according to the patient’s plan of care
- Administer medications in a safe manner, in accordance with organizational policies and state requirements
- LPNs in lead positions serve as subject matter experts and clinical mentors within the practice
