Payroll Specialist

Typical day in the life as a Payroll Specialist:

• Complete review, reconciliation, audit, and documentation of hours worked for all facilities using the company’s timekeeping system.
• Process payroll accurately and timely through the company’s payroll provider/PEO. Ensure that payroll is distributed properly and timely.
• Complete employee onboarding for payroll processes accurately and timely through the Company’s’ payroll provider/PEO.
• Process employee changes accurately and timely through the Company’s payroll provider/PEO.
• Maintain employee and payroll documentation per the Company’s record retention policy in an organized, confidential manner.
• Be the Company’s primary contact for the payroll provider/PEO; contact payroll provider/PEO as needed.
• Respond to and resolve inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Escalate issues, as necessary.
• Prepare annual payroll budgets. Provide strategic suggestions and input on payroll and payroll related budgets for Management’s consideration.
• Understand payroll recordkeeping process from employee perspective, including for bus drivers and attendants; become familiar with and train on software and processes related to timekeeping.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred
• 3+ years of experience in office environment, preferably in payroll related function
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of personnel, payroll, and other similar information
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License; willingness to travel to other company facilities (currently, all in Ohio)
• Ability to work in an office environment; ability to use computer, telephone, copier, and other general office equipment
• Ability and willingness to become van / attendant certified; may involve riding a school bus or school van for a shift, on occasion
• All candidates must pass a background check and drug test
