Summary
Provides primary and/or specialty nursing and/or medical care in various healthcare settings. Works in collaboration with a physician under a standard care arrangement and specialty board certification, complying with Section of the Ohio Revised Code, Board of Nursing rules, and national board certification. Maintains a Standard Care Arrangement with collaborating physician(s) on the medical staff.
Responsibilities- Provides advanced nursing care to patients with complex acute, critical, and chronic health conditions, including delivery of acute care services.
- Performs health assessments and physical exams, identifies significant health and medical risk factors, orders, interprets, and evaluates tests and studies.
- Develops diagnoses by analyzing collected data and independently or collaboratively with a physician develops treatment plans with patients and families.
- Performs diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with board certification, state law, and organizational medical staff privileges; may prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority.
- Develops patient education plans, participates in medical team rounds, collaborates with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.
- Performs admission history & physical, documents progress notes, completes discharge summaries, provides consultations and requests consults as directed, assists with discharge planning.
- Serves as a resource for staff/residents, clinical preceptor for APN students; performs other duties as assigned.
- Participates in quality monitoring through review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes on a bi-annual basis per ORC requirements and Joint Commission's FPPE and OPPE for Advanced Practice Providers.
- Excellent critical thinking, self‑motivation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other computer software for data analysis and presentations.
Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing preferred.
Licensed as an RN in the State of Ohio;
National certification as a nurse practitioner by a nationally accredited organization.
Must have a current certificate of authority and prescription authority (or be eligible) by the Ohio Board of Nursing. ACLS or PALS may be required depending on practice setting.
Must obtain credentialing as an active member of medical staff and appropriate medical staff privileges.
Current Health Care Provider BLS training required.
Individuals hired without an MSN or DNP and those hired without a certificate to prescribe must actively pursue and obtain an MSN or DNP degree/certificate to prescribe.
