Utility Locate Technician
Job Description: Locate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including, but not limited to, telephone communications, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is a key component to ensure that the area is complying with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods.

- Accurately locate underground facilities using transmitters and equipment.
- Work across various terrains, including construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas, in all weather conditions.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints, and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Perform locates, including emergency/on‑call locates, during regular, overtime, and holiday hours as needed.
- Conduct all work in a timely, professional, and efficient manner while communicating effectively with customers, coworkers, and third parties.
- Coordinate with management, contractors, and utility customers to maintain a damage‑free environment.
- Use and maintain technology and tools required for locating.
- Work within a supervised team environment as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalency (GED).
- State‑issued driver’s license.
- Ability to solve problems and to read, interpret, and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Experience in vacuum truck operations is a plus.
- Physical capability to lift over 50 lbs and walk/stand for several hours a day.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Clear background check with no violations within the last five years.
- Pass DOT drug test.
