Description
The Assistant Athletic Director for Annual Giving (Cardinal & Black Fund) is responsible for overall management and strategic planning of athletics annual giving, consisting of annual contributions designated towards the Cardinal & Black Fund (CBF), Excellence Funds for each intercollegiate sport, and UCM Athletics special events.
ReportingThe Assistant Athletic Director of Athletics for Annual Giving reports directly to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations and takes directions from the Associate Athletic Director for Major Gifts.
Duties- Annual Fund – 50%
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, alumni, and supporters, serving as a primary point of contact for annual giving inquiries and stewardship.
- Collaborate with the Athletics Advancement team to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for annual gifts, and coordinate with major gift officers as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the UCM Alumni Foundation and development team to create and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan and appeal schedule for the Cardinal & Black Fund (CBF):
- In collaboration with department leadership, set revenue, participation, and other goals for the annual giving program.
- Create and implement strategies to achieve CBF goals.
- Create and manage a calendar/schedule of communication (solicitation/renewal, stewardship, impact, updates, etc.) with current and potential donors that leverage a variety of media (email, social media, direct mail, video, special events, etc.) to engage potential and current donors.
- Work with athletics marketing, communications, and ticketing teams to integrate annual giving messaging into broader departmental initiatives.
- Support the development of fundraising collateral, appeals, and digital content to inspire giving and communicate impact.
- Fulfill donor benefits as specified at various giving levels.
- Analyze giving data, generate reports, and use metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and inform future strategies.
- Special Events – 30%
- Ensure the planning, coordination and proper execution of all athletic special events, including not limited to:
Athletics Auction, First Pitch Banquet, Wrestling Legends Banquet, sport‑specific golf tournaments, etc. - In collaboration with department leadership, set revenue, participation, and other goals for athletics special events.
- Create and implement strategies to achieve special event goals.
- Incorporate special events promotion and planning into broader CBF communication schedule.
- Ensure the planning, coordination and proper execution of all athletic special events, including not limited to:
- Donor Stewardship & Engagement – 15%
- Plan and execute donor engagement and recognition events, including game‑day hospitality, special receptions, and virtual events.
- Coordinate with Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics to ensure proper awarding of UCM Alumni Foundation student‑athlete scholarships, donor stewardship, and student‑athlete and donor recognition.
- Ensure proper gift processing, acknowledgments, and stewardship activities in coordination with the UCM Alumni Foundation, ensuring timely and accurate donor recognition.
- Maintain accurate donor records and ensure compliance with University and NCAA policies and procedures.
- Other Duties – 5%
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate AD, External Relations, Associate Athletic Director, Major Gifts or Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics.
- Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience
- One (1) year in a full‑time role within a university.
- Experience in fundraising and events preferred.
