Description
Building Attendant is the frontline customer service manager in the Elliott Student Union. Assists in meeting the needs of guests in the facility. Serves as manager on duty during evenings and weekends.
Duties Include
- Opens and closes the building as determined by hours of operation.
- Reviews reservation report for room assignments and times.
- Greets all guests upon arrival, directing them to appropriate rooms and offering assistance.
- Alerts or communicates with the Sodexo, audio‑video and custodial staff to ensure table service, room, audio video equipment, sound and lighting are set up according to client requirements.
- Ensures the security of offices, rooms, and equipment during assigned hours.
- Walks on all floors at least every 30 minutes to observe activities, secure open rooms and assist clients and student organizations.
- Acts as a resource for student staff, customers, and guests, disseminating information on scheduled functions, services and policies.
- Posts daily room signs.
- Monitors bulletin boards, removing unauthorized and out‑of‑date items.
- When possible, relieves other staff for breaks and helps during busy situations.
- Attends all staff and training meetings.
Education
Typical Qualifications
- Full‑time enrolled student with a minimum of 2.5 GPA.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Working Hours
- Varies, includes evenings & weekends.
- No more than 20 hours per week.
