Surgical Scrub Tech - PRN

Description

A Surgical Scrub Tech is a professional who assists the surgical team. The Surgical Scrub Tech must be able to anticipate the surgeon’s needs during an operation. The Surgical Scrub Tech must maintain strict sterile technique and follow current guidelines. The Surgical Scrub Tech works under the supervision of the circulating Registered Nurse in the operating room and/or charge nurse of the unit.

The Surgical Scrub Tech must be a patient advocate.

• Demonstrate the ability to assist the physicians with procedures in the operating room and endoscopy suite
• Provide correct instrumentation and supplies during the procedure
• Utilize aseptic technique and ensure a safe environment for the patient
• Utilize time management skills to facilitate the schedule
• Attend departmental meetings and hospital forums
• Routinely participate in department projects to continuously improve the department and/or organization
• Assist co-workers as needed/requested
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Perform other essential duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program highly preferred
• Minimum 1 year experience as a surgical scrub tech preferred
• Knowledgeable of various surgical procedures
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment
• Sterile conscious required
• Current BLS required
