The total addressable global market for counter drone is assessed at approximately $100 billion, and is currently at the nascent stage with much of the growth still to come, with Drone Shield well positioned as a global market leader, and the only public listed pure‑play business in this sector.
The company has grown from 11 employees in 2017 to over 450 staff globally today, and is on track to reach around 550 by the end of 2026. This expansion includes investment of over A $50 million annually in R&D, a global pipeline exceeding A $2.5 billion, and continuous scaling of production capacity to meet accelerating demand.
The role is based at Drone Shield’s central Sydney headquarters. Overseas on‑ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide.
AboutThe Role
Be part of an agile, highly performing US‑based sales team. Drone Shield is looking for a senior level Sales Director to sell to the Navy across the US. The role will report into the Vice President of Sales. Competitive salary, attractive commission structure and comprehensive health insurance will be provided.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations- Manage and leverage resources to create, identify, develop and qualify opportunities.
- Create and prioritize strategic target account lists.
- Work with the broader team to set meetings, conduct demos, and visit prospects.
- Maintain active engagement with new and existing leads through creative follow‑up communications.
- Identify and conduct high‑level conversations with key decision makers.
- Represent Drone Shield at industry events.
- Conduct demonstrations and installations of Drone Shield systems.
- Provide input in the creation of marketing materials and messaging for specified customer groups.
- Assist in providing distributor and end‑customer training in product use.
- 10–15 years’ work experience related to business development, marketing, or technical and engineering solutions in the US Navy space.
- Prior military service in the US Navy preferred.
- Strong understanding of US Navy organizational structure, procurement methods, key program offices.
- Highly effective communicator to all levels within the company and with customers, to include senior executives and General/Flag Officers.
- Demonstrated understanding of customer needs to align Drone Shield's capabilities and core values.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a geographically distributed team.
