Systems Test Engineer

DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of world’s most challenging technical problems in the Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems. With one of the largest listed defense company market capitalizations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, Drone Shield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fueled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.

The role is primarily focused on the maintenance and support of Drone Shield engineering efforts. You will coordinate with various engineering teams to test and validate hardware and software solutions in the office and various locations. You will be responsible for all associated processes and support systems to improve the cadence of testing at Drone Shield.

• Maintain the Drone Shield field testing facility and equipment
• Coordinate with various Engineering teams to schedule, provision and execute field testing activities
• Coordinate the Drone Shield drone inventory, including tagging, maintaining, and preparing drone airframes at testing facility.
• Support Business Development & Field Service Engineering teams with demonstrations and testing events
• Travel regularly outside of your homebase to complete data capture exercises
• Contribute to the Drone Shield drone intelligence database, regularly completing market scans for new drones and new drone-related information
• High work ethic and the desire to take ownership over tasks/problems that may fall outside of your immediate job description/team
• Perform all RePL duties and responsibilities related, but not limited to; flight planning, drone operations, and record keeping requirements under ReOC
• Survey new locations for potential test sites that meet Engineering requirements
• Be willing to undergo any additional qualifications and retraining as required.

• The following commercial drone pilot qualifications and experience:
• Experienced with Linux Operating systems is ideal. Comfortable working with the Terminal, Text Manipulation Tools, Process Monitoring and Networking
• BS degree in Engineering (various), or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience, is an advantage.
• Candidate should be willing to be in the Warrenton office, and to travel for data captures and tests when needed.
