Systems Engineer
Byte Systems, a subsidiary of VTG, is seeking a Systems Administrator in Chantilly, Tyson's Corner, or Warrenton, VA. The successful candidate will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This individual will participate in the whole process lifecycle from technical research to enabling continued innovation within the infrastructure through to application/product delivery, ensuring that system hardware, operating systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners.
They will manage a group of Windows computers, a Windows domain, Active Directory, Group Policy, Trellix ePolicy Orchestrator, Configuration Manager, Power Shell, Horizon/Omnissa, and Delinea.
- Manage the functionality and efficiency of a group of Windows computers.
- Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems through approval and processing of patches.
- Interact with users and evaluate vendor products.
- Research and recommend hardware and software, coordinate installation, and provide backup/recovery.
- Monitor policies and standards for allocation of computing resources.
- Program in an administrative language.
- Leverage scripting and system automation tools.
- Oversee implementation of testing strategies and documentation of results.
- Provide advice and training to end-users.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
- Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice.
- Use VMware to build and maintain virtual machines.
- Maintain systems documentation.
- Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance, with polygraph.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of related systems engineering experience in systems administration and analysis.
