Phlebotomist-PRN-Varies

Overview

The Phlebotomist I maintains current professional knowledge and skills to independently perform dermal puncture on all age groups (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult & geriatric) and venipuncture on adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. The employee is responsible for accurately identifying the patient and specimen and collecting specimens of high quality in an efficient manner consistent with laboratory and hospital policy. Incumbent must also meet the departmental requirement of continuing education by attaining a minimum of 6 hours per year.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 6 months full-time equivalent general phlebotomy experience or Clinical internship including minimum of 100 venipunctures. Demonstrated ability to use computers (email, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.). Able to read, write and speak basic English.

Preferred: Training Program / Course Phlebotomy. Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP) or equivalent national certification.
