Overview
The Medical Technologist (MT) I maintains current professional knowledge and skills to perform testing as a generalist in the Clinical Laboratory, including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and basic microbiology and blood banking. Responsible for producing high quality, accurate test results in an efficient manner consistent with laboratory and hospital policy. Incumbent must also meet the departmental requirement of continuing education by attaining a minimum of 12 hours per year.
Responsibilities- Perform testing as a generalist in the Clinical Laboratory across chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, basic microbiology, and blood banking.
- Produce high quality, accurate test results in an efficient manner consistent with laboratory and hospital policy.
- Maintain current professional knowledge and skills.
- Associates in Medical Technology or related science. Exception:
Meets qualifications under the CLIA 88 Grandfather clause for High Complexity Testing personnel. - Medical Technology internship at an accredited program.
- Successful completion of the MLT certification (ASCP) within 6 months of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to use computers (email, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.).
- Able to read, write and speak basic English.
