Finish Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Finish Manager to oversee all finishing operations within our millwork production facility. The Finish Manager will be responsible for leading a team of finishers, ensuring quality standards are met, maintaining production schedules, and coordinating with other departments to achieve project goals while maintaining compliance with DEQ and other regulatory standards.

• Supervise daily operations of the finish department, including sanding, staining, sealing, and top coating.
• Ensure all finishes meet company quality and color standards.
• Schedule and prioritize workloads to meet project deadlines.
• Work closely with the production, engineering, and installation teams to coordinate finishing requirements.
• Oversee color matching and sample approval processes with clients and project managers.
• Maintain proper inventory levels of finishing materials and supplies.
• Ensure all finishing operations comply with Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) and EPA regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Implement and enforce safety procedures and proper equipment use.
• Train and mentor finish department personnel, promoting continuous improvement and professional growth.
• Monitor and maintain finishing equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in architectural millwork finishing, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of finishing materials, techniques, and equipment.
• Proven ability to maintain DEQ compliance and follow environmental safety protocols.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and finish schedules.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
• Working knowledge of safety and environmental compliance standards related to finishing operations.

• Experience with custom and high-end millwork projects.
• Familiarity with catalyzed finishes, conversion varnish, and water-based coatings.
