IMMEDIATE Combined 1st & 2nd Grade Class Teacher  Opening Statement

Waldorf School of Du Page is seeking an immediately available teacher for our combined 1st and 2nd grade class for the 2025–2026 school year, ideally beginning before February. The position is open due to an unanticipated teacher departure. The class of 11 bright and engaged students, together with a dedicated group of parents and colleagues, is a thriving and well-supported group.

We are looking for a Waldorf-trained, experienced educator who is caring, steady, and committed to guiding the class for years to come.

Our current work focuses on refining policy and protocol, strengthening student support and assessment, and cultivating collaborative partnerships with parents. As the class teacher for grades 1 and 2, the teacher would be responsible for the following areas:

• Create and implement a comprehensive 1/2nd grade combined curriculum while also differentiating between the two groups where needed
• Safely and effectively manage a classroom while accomplishing learning goals and objectives
• Teach to a wide variety of individual learning styles and needs
• Evaluate, track, and communicate student progress
• Hold class meetings 2-3 times a year and host parent teacher conferences for this class
• Lead collaborative efforts with subject teachers and student support staff
• Collaborate with and contribute to the efforts of faculty, administration, and board
• Work closely with parents to support holistic child development and continuity between home and school
• Effectively use Google suite and other online technologies
• Participate in festival and community life of the school
• Engage in ongoing professional development and work with assigned mentor
• Communicate effectively with adults and children

• Completion or near completion of Waldorf Teacher Training certificate from AWSNA affiliated institute
• Four or more years of lead teaching experience
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Experience with differentiated instruction and working with learning differences

Salary range: $46,000 – $55,000 Benefits: Full tuition remission for dependents, Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO/HMO health insurance options, vision and dental insurance, 403b retirement planning, two weeks paid time off, accrual-based sick leave, paid family leave, and professional development funding.
