Patient Navigator – Behavioral Health – Day Shift - Location:
Warrenville, IL - Employment Type:
Part Time - Hours:
2-3 days/week (1:00 pm – 9:30 pm); 2 weekend shifts/month; 1–2 holiday shifts.
Provides initial response to clients reaching out to the hospital. Conducts initial assessment of clients and schedules mental health appointments. Responds to and triages crisis calls. Registers, reviews, and corrects patient registration information in the computer system. Verifies insurance coverage and eligibility for all Blue Cross HMOI members.
What you will do- Answer phone inquiries to determine client needs.
- Respond to and triage crisis calls; partner with team for urgent situations.
- Assist clients in determining appropriate services and eligibility under the HMOI plan.
- Schedule appointments or refer clients to contracted providers.
- Enter data for client registration using departmental software.
- Use software for benefit verification, claims adjudication, and other HMOI contract support tasks.
- Communicate with providers and/or clients regarding scheduling, releases, and recommendations.
- Review release of information and authorization forms with clients telephonically as needed.
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Maintain information as highly confidential.
- Maintain professional boundaries and willingness to seek supervision.
- Associate’s Degree plus a minimum of three years of experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Health related field.
- Minimum of one year of previous experience in healthcare or a behavioral health setting.
- Crisis line or crisis intervention experience.
- Substantial knowledge of insurance plans such as Commercial, Managed Care, capitated plans, Medicare, Medicaid, and Workers Compensation.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification within 90 days of start date.
- Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association within 90 days of start date.
