Are you a commercially astute professional with a strong background in procurement and a passion for working in high‑integrity, safety‑critical environments? We are seeking an experienced Assistant Commercial Manager to support procurement and contract management activities within the nuclear sector. With 2‑4 years of relevant experience, ideally in a regulated or infrastructure‑heavy industry, you will play a key role in supplier engagement, supporting the development of sourcing strategies and commercial strategies which meet business needs and deliver opportunities for the development of the nuclear industry.
Reporting to the Commercial Lead and Commercial Manager, you will support the delivery of high‑quality commercial activity across major procurements. You will help shape commercial and procurement strategies, negotiate contract terms, manage commercial documentation, and ensure compliance with GBE‑N policies and relevant legislation.
This role is ideal for someone who has supported complex procurement activity and is looking to take the next step in their commercial career within a high‑integrity, safety‑critical sector.
What you'll be doing- Supporting the development of procurement and commercial strategies, including routes to market, lotting models, payment mechanisms, negotiation planning and evaluation approaches.
- Managing defined aspects of procurement activity as part of a wider commercial team, including development of tender documentation, contract drafting, pricing strategy and negotiation support.
- Contributing to the development of commercial policy, templates and guidance, and maintaining the commercial policy library.
- Supporting commercial assurance, ensuring governance processes, policies and security requirements are followed throughout the commercial lifecycle.
- Conducting market analysis and developing commercial intelligence to inform strategy, supplier engagement and value‑for‑money considerations.
- Managing elements of the tendering process including ITT preparation, evaluation moderation, contract finalisation and supplier mobilisation.
- Supporting the approvals and business case process from commercial and financial perspectives.
- Collaborating closely with stakeholders across Technical, PMO, Finance, Legal and Programme teams to ensure seamless delivery of commercial activity.
