Role OverviewWe are looking for a Quantity Surveyor local to Manchester to contribute to our success as a fully‑time, permanent Main Contractor. The role involves managing commercial success across projects, primarily within the special projects division that handles cladding remediation and fire remediation of high‑risk buildings across the North.
Responsibilities- Ensure the commercial success of projects while adhering to commercial administration procedures.
- Work within the special projects division to promote collaborative environments with clients and manage subcontract/supply‑chain accounts.
- Negotiate terms and conditions of subcontracts and manage related payments for specialist subcontracts and key suppliers.
- Maintain strict compliance with contract terms, conditions, rights, and obligations.
- Report monthly to senior management using the CVR process.
- Coordinate changes and manage variations in accordance with JCT contracts and analyse the impact of changes, assessing liability exposure.
- Monitor and track contract obligations, undertake site visits, and report on programme, cost and key events/issues.
- Perform the contract close‑out process, ensuring all terms are met and payments are verified, and obtain and execute required forms, reports, or clearances.
- Collaborate with clients and subcontractors on all duties.
- Work with the project team to evaluate the impact of budget changes, capture and report cost variances, and collate defined cost records for client audit.
- Produce monthly Cost Value Reconciliation, Generate Earned Value Analysis reports, validate subcontract applications/payments data, review and validate weekly cost monitors, compare forecasted costs with actual costs, prepare monthly valuations, maintain change registers, and provide commercial elements for the commercial report.
- Highly computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of managing large data sets.
- Full‑time permanent role, Monday to Friday 8am–5pm.
- Ability to travel throughout the South East.
- Confident in client‑facing interactions.
- Experience in contract negotiation, payment management, and contract administration under JCT or similar frameworks.
- Strong budgeting, cost control, and reporting skills.
- Excellent documentation and change‑register management.
