About the Role
At Balfour Beatty we shape and deliver vital infrastructure projects that connect communities and create lasting social value. We are looking for a proactive and community‑focused Public Liaison Officer to join our Warrington project team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills who is passionate about building positive relationships and making a real impact within local communities.
As a Public Liaison Officer you will act as the key point of contact between the project and the local community, ensuring clear, professional and timely communication throughout all stages of the project. You will play a vital role in supporting stakeholder engagement, managing reputational risk and helping deliver meaningful social value outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing- Act as the primary contact for community queries, concerns and complaints, ensuring prompt and professional responses.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with residents, local authorities, schools, businesses and external stakeholders.
- Produce communication materials including newsletters, project updates, notices and community briefings.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication of project information and activities.
- Support compliance with industry schemes and standards, including Considerate Constructors requirements.
- Record, monitor and report on stakeholder engagement activities and outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with internal project teams to align communications with project milestones and construction activities.
- Support the management of local reputational risk through effective engagement and communication.
- Previous experience in stakeholder engagement, community relations, communications or public liaison.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to manage sensitive situations professionally and confidently.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience producing communication and engagement materials.
- Knowledge of social value delivery and reporting would be advantageous.
- Experience with in construction, infrastructure or civil engineering environments is desirable but not essential.
- Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
- 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata).
