Overview
My client is an established main contractor with offices across the North, delivering commercial newbuild projects valued between £5m and £15m.
The majority of their workload consists of newbuild industrial units, alongside hotels, offices, public buildings and care homes. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they're looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Warrington.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you'll take commercial responsibility for one or two projects, depending on their size and complexity. You'll be involved during the pre-construction phase before managing the full commercial process throughout the construction phase, working closely with the Estimating and Operational teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
Responsibilities
Managing the commercial performance of one or two construction projects.
Procuring subcontract packages and managing subcontractor accounts.
Preparing CVRs, forecasts and cost reports.
Managing applications, valuations, variations and final accounts.
Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks.
Working closely with the Estimating team during project handovers.
Liaising with site teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors throughout the construction phase.
Ensuring projects are delivered in line with commercial objectives.
Must Have
Around 5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
Experience working for a main contractor.
Experience delivering commercial newbuild projects such as industrial units, hotels, offices, public buildings and care homes.
Experience managing the commercial process from procurement through to final account.
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to projects across the North West
