A national property consultancy is recruiting a Principal Planner for its Glasgow office. Planning sits alongside a wider range of property services, giving the successful candidate access to clients and projects from across the development lifecycle.

This role is built around one central idea: manage planning instructions within a national property consultancy and collaborate with agency, valuation and rural teams. The team’s current workload includes residential, commercial, rural, energy and mixed-use development across Scotland.
What you would be doing- Prepare clear planning appraisals, statements and strategic advice.
- Manage planning applications and coordinate technical inputs.
- Maintain regular, professional communication with clients and project teams.
- Negotiate constructively with local planning authorities and other stakeholders.
- Review work produced by junior colleagues and support their development.
- Contribute to fee proposals, client development and the commercial management of projects.
Mrtpi; scottish planning experience; strong client skills and ability to manage multiple commissions. You should also be organised, dependable and able to explain planning issues in straightforward language. The business is interested in people who value good advice and long-term client relationships rather than unnecessary internal politics.
Package and working arrangementsThe salary is £45,000–£57,000 plus benefits. The wider package includes hybrid working, bonus, pension, healthcare and professional development. Exact arrangements will depend on experience and will be discussed openly during the process.
