Mental Health Support Worker / SEN Teaching Assistant (KS2)

Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEN, SEMH and mental health needs.
- Create a safe, nurturing and structured environment that supports emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
- Support pupils’ social, emotional and academic development through targeted and therapeutic interventions.
- Assist with the delivery and review of individual support plans and IEPs.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective support.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate records of interventions and outcomes.
- Experience working with children with SEN and/or mental health needs, ideally within a school or similar setting.
- Calm, patient, emotionally resilient and confident supporting pupils with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and can build trusting relationships.
- Understand behaviour management strategies, trauma‑informed practice or restorative approaches.
- Passionate about promoting inclusion, wellbeing and positive outcomes for children.
- Previous experience in a Mental Health Support Worker, SEN TA or similar role.
- Relevant qualifications in mental health support, counselling, youth work or SEN (desirable).
- Good understanding of policies and legislation relating to mental health and SEN in schools.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply.
- Competitive hourly pay of £12.50 – £13.50 per hour.
