Associate Lecturer Cheshire & Warrington and Manchester
We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to join our team as an Associate Lecturer. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in delivering a comprehensive molecular biology or mammalian cell culture course that offers hands-on experiences with various techniques and methodologies.
As an Associate Biology Lecturer, you will have the opportunity to impart your expertise, foster a deep understanding of laboratory techniques, and mentor the next generation of scientists. This role includes allocated time for CPD and conference attendance plus research grant writing to further your own research career.
£32,000-£38,000 per annum (£300 per day for additional weekend course delivery)
LocationCheshire & Warrington and Manchester
ResponsibilitiesProvide teaching of mammalian cell culture, ELISA, Western Blotting, Microbiology or PCR techniques as required using a variety of pedagogical techniques.
Complete assessments of students in line with company policies and the relevant qualification body guidelines. Provide pastoral support and references to students during and after courses. Contribute to student admissions processes.
Create and review all related risk assessments and ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety standards.
Create and update written course materials and assessments. Engage with feedback on teaching to enhance quality and learner experience.
Deliver lectures at schools and universities to promote courses and research.
Attend external conferences, training, and COPD events. Prepare grant submissions to further research work.
- PhD (working towards) in a relevant biological science – Essential
- Understanding and ability to undertake research – Essential
- PGCE or equivalent – Desirable
- 2+ years of experience in Molecular Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology or Microbiology – Essential
- Experience in lecturing/teaching – Desirable
- Experience in a regulated laboratory environment – Desirable
- Experience in scientific project development & planning – Essential
- Strong communication skills – Essential
- Confidence in communication with external stakeholders – Essential
- Well-developed organizational skills – Essential
- Strong initiative and ability to work without supervision – Essential
- Ability to work efficiently and cooperatively as part of a team – Essential
